The current three-time Formula 1 world champion, Max Verstappen, praised the performance of Argentine driver Franco Colapinto since he entered the top category of motorsport with Williams Racing. Verstappen highlighted Colapinto's work and his level on the track, mentioning that it is always rewarding to see young drivers stand out.
"Franco is doing a great job since he arrived in Formula 1. It's always nice to see young drivers come in and do well...," said the Dutch driver, after warmly greeting Colapinto and sharing a few words with him at the end of his statements to the media.
Verstappen also evaluated the difficulty of the race, highlighting the issues that arose with the medium tires. The Red Bull driver acknowledged the obstacles they faced and pointed out that complications with the medium tires affected his performance: "Then I had a penalty, and with the hard tire, I also didn't have pace," he explained. He added that they had a good start in the race but then began to experience pace problems and fell back in the standings.
Verstappen's words came after he finished sixth in the Mexican Grand Prix, where he exchanged praises with the young Argentine driver. The interaction between the two drivers and their mutual recognition underscored the camaraderie and respect in the world of Formula 1, showcasing the importance of healthy competition and support among drivers on the track.
